Biography

Scot Gresham-Lancaster is a composer, malady performer, instrument builder and educator. He is an associate professor of sound design at ATEC UT Dallas. The focus of his research is in the sonification of data sets in tight relationships with visualizations, (multimodal representations). As a member of theĀ HUB, he is an early pioneer of networked computer music and has developed many “cellphone operas“. He has created a series of co-located international Internet performances and worked developing audio for several games and interactive products. He is an expert in educational technology. CV

He was a student of Roy Harris, Darius Milhaud, John Chowning, Robert Ashley,Terry Riley, “Blue” Gene Tyrany, David Cope among others. He has been a composer in residence at Mills College.STEIM and the Djerassi Artist Residency Program. He has toured and recorded withthe HUB, Alvin Curran, ROVA saxophone quartet. He has performed the music of Iannis Xenakis, John Cage, David Tudor, Pauline Oliveros and John Zorn under their direction.
